As per the latest study
published in the British Journal of General Practice, individuals who have
diligently swollen neck glands may be at risk for lymphoma (cancer of the
lymphatic system). These patients should immediately consult an oncologists for
investigation.
In a statement provided by
Professor Willie Hamilton from University of Exeter Medical School in Britain, said
that "Our research has showed the significance of persevering swollen
lymph glands, especially in the neck, as a part of cancer."
He also confirmed that it is
true that swollen glands are common with throat infections, yet in case of
cancer they are usually painless and a bit large in size. The team working on
this research says, the disease is curable if diagnosed in time, thus it is important
to refer the cases for further intensive investigation to prevent many worse
conditions and even deaths from lymphoma.
Symptoms Of Lymphoma
- Swelling or lump often without pain, in the neck, under the arms, or in the groin area
- Itchy skin
- Persistent fever

- Pain in the chest
- Difficulty breathing
- Chronic Fatigue
- Heavy sweating especially during night
- Sudden weight loss
- Strong effects of alcohol that might lead to pain in lymph node
Treatment May Include

Lymphoma vaccines are in
research. However, it is important that you spot early signs of the disease, so
it can be diagnosed and treated well on time.
